Activities

Activity Week

Once a year, in May or June, the timetable at Danley is suspended and children choose from a variety of activities, practical, academic and sporting, in Britain and abroad. This provides pupils with an opportunity to cover a topic in depth which would not be possible during the normal timetable. Each activity provides the expertise or economies of scale which allows the school to offer educational experiences to the children which most parents could not provide on their own.

Below are reports from some of the Activity Weeks in May 2009.

FUN CLUB
All staff and pupils who participated in Fun Club enjoyed a great activity week.  The week consisted of trips to Treejumpers, Chatham Dry Ski Slope, Swallows at Sittingbourne and bowling at Whitstable.  At Treejumpers pupils (and some brave staff!) took part in high wire activities, climbing and jumping (with safety harness), archery and rifle shooting.  At the ski slope we learnt basic skiing manoevres, snow boarding, sno-tubing and toboganning (Mr Ludgate accidentally 'demonstrated' a spectacular jump from a toboggan at speed which impressed everyone!)  By the end of the week we were all exhausted but had all had a really FUN week.  Thanks to all staff involved: Mrs Gibbons, Mrs Curtis, Mr Ludgate, Mr Heyward, Mr Phillips, Mr Brazier, Mrs Gill, Ms Eatwell and Mrs Bermingham.
